FIELD: power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to the field of nuclear power engineering, in particular, to ultrahigh-temperature reactors of space application. Particle fuel element for ultrahigh-temperature nuclear reactor contains fuel microsphere on the basis of UC-ZrC and four-layer coating. The first layer from fuel microsphere is made of titanium carbide with density of 3.3-4.5 g/cm3, the second layer - of titanium nitride, the third layer from fuel microsphere is made of zirconium carbide or niobium carbide, and the fourth layer is made of zirconium nitride.
EFFECT: reduces power corrosion load at the layer of ZrC (NbC) and in the end allows to increase resource of particle fuel elements during ultrahigh-temperature irradiation.
