FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to steam turbines. The steam turbine upper and lower diaphragms are provided with coupler flanges forming an interface in the joint along the horizontal central line. Every flange has a recess aligned with an appropriate recess on the opposite flange. The said mating recesses are furnished with composite stranded tubular seal housing an inner stranded metal core enclosed by an annular layer of quartz fiber, in its turn, enveloped by a metal foil with an outer protective coating made of stainless steel braiding. With the diaphragms coupled, the elastic seal matches, in fact, the recess shape to ensure a good packing between the diaphragms along the joint horizontal central line.
EFFECT: improved sealing of diaphragms.
