FIELD: physics, measurement.
SUBSTANCE: invention concerns method and device for battery charge and discharge power estimation, including batteries for hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) and electric vehicles (EV). One of the battery charge and discharge power estimation methods involves project limitations by voltage, state of charge (SOC), power and current and operates in time interval Δt defined by user. At least two element models are used to calculate maximum charge/discharge capacity on the basis of voltage limitations. First model is a simple element model involving expansion to Taylor series for complex equation linearisation. Second, more complex and precise model simulates element dynamics in the form of space of conditions with discrete time. Element model can include multiple input parametres, such as temperature, resistance, capacitance, etc. One of the model approach advantages is that a single model can be used both in Kalman filtration to obtain SOC and in maximum charge/discharge capacity estimation based on voltage limitations.
EFFECT: efficient method of battery charge and discharge power estimation.
