FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: method includes the following stages: dosing of polymers that include polystyrene and other additives and auxiliary substances, plasticisation of components in extruder for preparation of homogeneous mixture, supply of compressed gas through inlet opening, mixing of homogeneous mixture and gas and pulling pressure until complete dissolution of gas for preparation of single-phase mixture. Then mixture is gradually cooled down with maintenance of pressure necessary for gas solubilisation. Supply of mixture in the form of single-phase mixture in molding device for molding of foam and passage of foam molded in this manner is performed through calibrating system. It may be equipped with facility for temperature control. Then calibrated foam is extracted with the help of electric motor. Gradual cooling is controlled to provide homogeneous profile of temperature in section that is perpendicular to the flow, until optimal foaming temperature is achieved. Applied polymer is selected from the group that includes polystyrene, copolymers acrylonitrile-butadiene-sterol (ABS), sterol-butadiene-sterol (SBS), sterol-ethylene-butadiene-sterol (SEBS) and their mixtures. Applied foaming gas is CO₂.

EFFECT: manufacture of profiles from cellular polystyrene with density from 100 to 350 kg/m³ with cells, from 25 to 100 mcm of size, that homogeneous.
