FIELD: physics; measurements.
SUBSTANCE: present invention pertains to measuring technology and is meant for use in metal processing equipment for identifying and monitoring positions of metallic objects based on their thermal state. The first infrared photodetector, inductive detector element and the second infrared photodetector, all arranged in the same plane along a straight line, form the detector element of the sensor. When a hot metallic body moves relative the detector element of the sensor, there is successive lighting up of one photodetector, intersection of the electromagnetic field of the inductive detector element at the open end of its ferrite carrier case and lighting up of the other photodetector. A signal with logic "1" level is generated at the output the driver circuit and is transmitted the second output terminal. The signal, generated by the generator, threshold element and inverter, is blocked at the second input of the 2NOR gate, which blocks output signal of the generator with logic level "1". At the first output terminal there is a signal with logic level "0".
EFFECT: increased integrity of operation and wider functional capabilities through provision for identification of hot and cold metallic objects.
