FIELD: physics; measurements.
SUBSTANCE: present invention pertains to measurement technology and can be used in mechanical engineering for identifying non-metallic objects based on their thermal status. When hot metallic objects move relative the detector element of the device, there is successive lighting up of the first infrared photodetector, intersection of the electromagnetic field of the inductive detector element, interaction with the electrostatic field of the capacitive detector element and lighting up of the second infrared photodetector. At the first output terminal of the device, a logic level "1" signal is generated, carrying information on the passage of a hot non-metallic object through the operating zone of the detector element of the device. At the second output terminal, the identification signal is not generated, and there is logic level "0" voltage on it. If a cold non-metallic body passes through the operating zone of the detector element of the device, a logic level "1" signal appears only from the capacitive detector element and is transmitted to the second output terminal of the device. No identification signal is generated at the first output terminal of the device, and there is logic level "0" voltage on it.
EFFECT: wider functional capabilities through provision for identification of hot and cold non-metallic objects.
