FIELD: physics, measurement.
SUBSTANCE: invention concerns instrumentation and is intended for application in engineering industry for identification of heated and non-heated metal and non-heated non-metal products. Device includes sensor element formed by two infrared photo receivers and inductive sensor element positioned between them and made in the form of inductance coil positioned in annular groove of open end of ferrite core with central hole, and sensor capacitor installed inside central hole of ferrite core coaxially to the hole. When heated or non-heated metal item moves against sensor of device, it passes sequence of first infrared photo receiver, overlapping electromagnetic field of inductive sensor, interaction with electrical filed of sensor capacitor, and second infrared photo receiver. First output of the device generates signal with logical '1' level identifying heated metal or non-metal article, while second output of the device generates voltage with logical '0' level. For non-heated non-metal article passage, signal with logical '1' level identifying such object is generated only by second output of device, while first device output carries voltage with logical '0' level.
EFFECT: improved reliability of contact-free identification of heated or non-heated metal and non-heated non-metal products due to elimination of false response actuated by extraneous sources of infrared radiation.
