FIELD: radioactive waste processing.
SUBSTANCE: method of long-live radionuclide immobilisation is based on radionuclide sorption based on ion-exchange resins and inclusion into had matrix. Ion-exchange resin is included into hard matrix by mixing up with thermoplastic material ITA-31 at a ratio (2:1÷1:8) at the temperature from 260°C to 280°C. After that, carbon cloth of ELUR type is added at a ratio (30-60%). Pressing is conducted at temperature from 280°C to 320°C and overpressure. Composite is heated to temperature equal to 600°C-650°C in inert medium or under vacuum and carbonised.
EFFECT: safe method of spent waste including ion-exchange resins immobilisation aimed at improvement of compound water resistance, prevention of compound swelling and damage, decrease of light-volatile radionuclide entrainment, improvement of mechanical strength, thermal and chemical stability at all stages of long-live radioactive waste handling: from hard matrix, thermal processing, storage and disposal.
