FIELD: optics; electronics.
SUBSTANCE: proposed crystal comprises a substrate, on the surface of which a film of non-linear optical material is deposited, on which a copper diffraction grating is fixed. The material provides for emitting light at second harmonic frequency, and the diffraction grating also serves as a system of electrodes producing the switching field. Switching of the photonic crystal lies in changing the direction angle of the light stream at second harmonic frequency. In the absence of an electrical field the light beam coming out of the crystal is directed at one angle to the receiving surface, and change of the angle at which the beam of light comes out of the photonic crystal is achieved by doubling the period of the non-linear diffraction grating by switching polarisation in the ferroelectric film, when voltage is applied the electrode structure in form of an input diffraction grating.
EFFECT: faster transmission of signals.
