FIELD: motors and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to propulsion engineering, in particular, to internal combustion engines. According to invention, two pistons of the same diameter are installed in engine cylinder, one of which is connected to crankshaft by means of connecting rod, and the other is arranged as kinematically independent. Cavity filled with oil is created between pistons, volume of which is controlled by means of valves and pressure controller, thus providing possibility of compression extent control in engine. Engine control is realised with the help of electronic facilities that determine value of compression extent that provides for detonating ignition of fuel-air mixture in engine cylinder. At that in order to determine required extent of compression, it is set below design value of self-ignition, igniting fuel-air mixture from spark candle in the beginning of driving stroke, after pistons have passed upper dead point. Extent of compression on operating engine with every stroke is increased to the moment of detonating self-ignition of mixture in upper dead point, afterwards spark candle is switched off.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of control of fuel-air mixture ignition process from compression, and also in reduction of loads on components of crank gear.
