FIELD: physics; measurement.
SUBSTANCE: present invention pertains to inspection technology and can be used in mechanical engineering for identification of metallic (heated and unheated) and non-metallic (heated and unheated) objects. The device comprises an inductive detecting element in form of an inductor coil, placed in a circular groove of the open end of a ferrite core with a central opening, and a capacitive detecting element in form of a current conducting plate, put inside the central opening of a ferrite core in line with the opening, parallel to the surface of the open end of the ferrite core. The inductive and capacitive detecting elements form the detecting element of the device. When a metallic object (heated or unheated) moves relative the detecting element of the device, there is successive interaction between the object and the electromagnetic field of the inductive detecting element and the electrical field of the capacitive detecting element.
EFFECT: more functional capabilities and increased efficiency of operation.
