FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to machine building, in particular to plunger engines that use hydrogen in operation, and may be used in propulsion engineering. Plunger internal combustion engine comprises at least one cylinder with cooling jacket, plunger and cylinder head that form combustion chamber, inlet and outlet valves, spark plug, system for supply of mixture that consists of electrolyte (electrolyte aqueous solution), fuel and air, and electrolytic cell installed in combustion chamber with supply of electric current to its electrodes. One of electrolytic cell electrodes is arranged with the possibility of movement together with plunger and installed on plunger with the possibility of electric current supply on it via tray. The second electrode of electrolytic cell is steadily fixed to cylinder head.
EFFECT: higher economic and ecological efficiency of engine.
