FIELD: physics, photography.

SUBSTANCE: proposed photocathode manufacture method envisages fabrication of a glass disk with smooth impact and shaped output surface, the latter's diameter being less than the photocathode input diameter; melt-joining smaller diameter glass disk to the photoemission structure; the photoemission structure treatment; application of conductive coating onto the photoemission structure peripheral part. In addition, the following operations are carried out: hermetic weld-joining the glass disk to the metal frame; application of protective coating onto the metal frame surface to provide for resistance to the chemicals used for the photoemission structure treatment; melt-joining smaller diameter glass disk to the photoemission structure; the photoemission structure treatment; application of conductive coating onto the photoemission structure peripheral part and (partly) onto the metal frame protective coating. There is also another photocathode manufacture method proposed providing for application of conductive coating onto the photoemission structure peripheral part and the cylindrical surface of the glass disk fixed in plastic metal frame.

EFFECT: device fabrication costs reduction due to employment of technique providing for reliable contact between the photocathode conductive coating applied on the photoemission structure peripheral part and the process cassette or the photocathode holder without touching the conductive coating.
