FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: composition including ammonium formiate as nitrogen oxide reducer is mixed with water and furnace or exhaust gas. Obtained mix is contacted to catalyst, which is V2O5-WO3 or V2O5-TiO2. Nitrogen oxide recovery reaction is performed at 120-550°C. Reducer composition includes 1 to 60 wt % of ammonium formiate and can also include 1 to 40 wt % of other nitrogen oxide reducers, such as ammonia, urea, ammonium urethane, ammonium carbonate, ammonium bicarbonate, ammonium oxalate or ammonium hydroxide.

EFFECT: low freezing point of hydrogen-containing composition, efficient recovery of nitrogen oxides at low temperatures, reduced corrosion.
