FIELD: metallurgy, electrolysis.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to production of carbon electrodes, particularly to production of cathode blocks and anode mass for self-baking anodes of aluminium electrolytic cells. The method consists in crumbling of solid filler to obtain coarse, medium and fine grains, in further mixing the said grains with an activated additive, in mixing the produced composition with peck and in thermo treatment of produced charge. As an activated additive part of solid filler, subject to mechanic-chemical activation, is used; while before mixing of activated additive with grains of solid filler the former is preliminary mixed with coarse grains.
EFFECT: increased electro-conductivity of electrode and reduction of ecologically harmful emissions.
