FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: invention is referred to electrical engineering and intended for separating metal wire (conductor) from the polymer thermoplastic braiding (insulation) and may be used for electrical wire and/or cables wastes processing. The method includes waste pressing to the shape of metal-polymer briquette. The produced briquette is heated at the temperature higher than the polymer flow temperature under the pressure of 10 KPa - 10 MPa.

EFFECT: improved metal separation in the form of polymer insulation wire briquette, increase of separation speed, avoidance of solvent use and reduction of power consumption.
