FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention concerns medicine, particularly anesthesiology and critical care medicine and can be applied in treatment of acute respiratory distress syndrome accompanied by pneumothorax. It involves artificial pulmonary ventilation with two-phase positive pressure in respiratory tract. Then upper pressure level in respiratory tract and positive pressure at the end of expiration are increased in 4-6 minutes above predetermined values by the value of gas exchange correction. Upper pressure level in respiratory tract is increased by 15-25 cm of water column, while positive pressure at the end of expiration is increased by 5-20 cm of water column.
EFFECT: significant improvement of pulmonary gas exchange, in previously non-ventilated damaged zones as well, while maintaining independent breathing of patient, due to opening previously collapsed alveoli.
