FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: chlorine dioxide is produced with using device including reactor, circulation line housed through heater, alkali chlorate, sulphuric acid and hydrogen peroxide feed holes. Method of chlorine dioxide production involves continuous operations to maintain underpressure and temperature of reaction medium, sufficient for water evaporation; arrangement of reaction medium circulation through the circulation line through the heater; ensured reaction of alkali chlorate, sulphuric acid and hydrogen peroxide in reaction medium to produce chlorine dioxide, oxygen and alkali sulphate; supplying alkali chlorate, sulphuric acid and hydrogen peroxide to reaction medium; withdrawing gas containing chlorine dioxide, oxygen and evaporated water. Herewith sulphuric acid is supplied through the inlet of the circulation line arranged lower streamwise relative to the heater, while hydrogen peroxide is supplied through the inlet directly to the reactor or through the inlet of the circulation line arranged lower streamwise relative to the sulphuric acid inlet at streamwise distance, at least, an order of internal diameter of the circulation line.
EFFECT: reduced Caro's acid formation in reaction medium thus resulting in hydrogen peroxide loss.
