FIELD: mechanics.
SUBSTANCE: proposed device comprises steel cable section and casing with working chamber with inlet and outlet holes and threaded hole communicating with the working chamber. The said threaded hole accommodate locking screw with its end face surface in contact with the locking element arranged in the working chamber and forming an acute angle with the axis of the cable being locked. The said angle apex faces the inlet hole. The method of preliminary cable locking comprises acting by the locking screw end face surface on the locking element, in contact with the cable, with the force directed parallel to the screw axis and at blunt angle to the cable axis (towards the working chamber inlet hole).
EFFECT: increased force applied by locking element on cable surface in position of preliminary cable locking.
