THERMOELECTROCHEMICAL GENERATOR Russian patent published in 2009 - IPC H01M10/39 H01M14/00

Abstract RU 2355075 C1

FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to conversion of thermal energy into electrical energy in a thermoelectrochemical generator. According to the invention, the thermoelectrochemial generator has an anode cavity, filled with sodium vapour at high pressure, a cathode cavity, filled with sodium vapour at low pressure, separated by a ceramic electrolyte base on sodium β-aluminium oxide, coated on the side of the anode and cathode cavities with a porous anode and cathode, a heater using isotope energy, and a cooling device. The thermoelectrochemical generator has a device for periodic removal of heat from one of the cavities to the cooling device. If one of the cavities is thermally insulated, heat is taken from the other cavity and during thermal insulation from the cooling device to the first cavity. For this purpose, the device has cylinder which turns 180 degrees, in contact with the cooling device and the indicated cavities. Part of the edge of the surface of this cylinder is made from heat-conductive material, while the other is made from heat-insulating material. On the side of the heat-conductive surface and on the side of the heat-insulating surface, the cylinder has current collectors, which are in contact with the anode and cathode cavities.

EFFECT: improved mass and weight characteristics and increased efficiency.
