FIELD: mechanics.

SUBSTANCE: invention deals with an improvement of crashing rolls in common grinders and particularly, in grinders with vertical axis. Composite crashing roll is cast moulded and provided with peripheral inserts. The inserts are made from highly endurable and strong material and fixed into a softer matrix during casting. Besides the above mentioned soft matrix spreads around and inside peripheral matrix during casting so that solid contact is formed on the border between the said peripheral inserts and soft matrix. The roll has first areas exposed to severe wear and second areas with less severe wear, due to the inserts with adjoining section provided on the periphery surface of the first area. The said second area has non-adjoining section. The clearance in the second non-adjoining section is filled up with softer matter during casting.

EFFECT: improved reliability and inserts fixing.
