FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to measurement of atomic constants - radius and energy of valent electrons coupling in atoms and ions. Method is based on deformation of electronic shells of atoms in external electric fields. According to invention, they measure polarisation of atoms in substance, which is in ideal gas condition, and using expressions obtained for shell model of atom, they find atom radius and energy of valent electrons coupling. At that it is assumed that polarisability of atoms and ions is causally related to efficient size of external electronic shell and energy of valent electrons coupling. Data on radiuses and energies of coupling obtained according to invention may be used to specify theories of electronic structure of substance and may be useful in nanotechnology.
EFFECT: measurement of radius and energy of atoms and ions coupling.
