METHOD OF EARLY DIAGNOSTICS OF VENTILATOR-ASSOCIATED PNEUMONIA Russian patent published in 2009 - IPC A61B5/08 A61M16/00 G01N33/487

Abstract RU 2361513 C2

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: claimed invention relates to field of medicine, namely, to pulmonology, anesthesiology, resuscitation and is intended for early and efficient diagnostics of ventilator-associated pneumonia in patients of surgical and therapeutic type. Method is characterised by the following: if in hose moisture accumulator 0.5-3 ml of exhaled air condensate is accumulated from beginning of respiratory support and periodically further as exhaled air condensate is accumulated in given amount, preferably, no less than each 12 hours, maximal intensity of light flow (MILF) of luminescence of exhaled by patient air condensate is measured, and if luminescence MILF increases by 13% and more from initial, conclusion about development in patient of ventilator-associated pneumonia is made. Claimed invention allows to diagnose pneumonia at early stage of its development without estimating clinical signs, allows to reduce number of harmful for patient's health X-ray examinations, start treatment in due time, reduce probability of lethal outcome and accelerate process of patient's rehabilitation. Method is characterised by high sensitivity and specificity, does not require availability of deficient reagents and expensive apparatuses, analysis takes 10-15 minutes.

EFFECT: ensuring possibility to diagnose pneumonia at early stage of its development without estimating clinical signs; reduction of number of harmful for patient's health X-ray examinations; decrease of probability of lethal outcome and acceleration of process of patient's rehabilitation.
