METHOD OF SELECTING TACTICS FOR TREATMENT OF ACUTE RESPIRATORY FAILURE Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC A61M16/00

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, specifically to anesthesiology and resuscitation. Patient is examined and pulse oximetry is performed. Immediately upon admission to the intensive care unit and before the assignment of respiratory support, a puncture of the radial artery with blood sampling in a volume of 2 ml is performed for analysis of acid-base and gas composition of arterial blood. Based on the results of said analysis, with Ph – 7.3, PO₂ – 60 to 100 mm Hg, PCO₂ – 35 to 40 mm Hg, oxygen therapy with a mouth-nose mask with a reservoir is performed. At Ph – from 7.2 to 7.25, PO₂ – 60 to 80 mm Hg, PCO₂ – 45 to 50 mm Hg, non-invasive ventilation of the lungs through a mouth-nose mask is carried out. At Ph – from 6.9 to 7.2, PO₂ – from 45 to 60 mm Hg, PCO₂ – 55 to 60 mm Hg, patients are transferred to artificial ventilation.

EFFECT: method reduces the number of instances and duration of patient stay on prolonged artificial ventilation, prevents complications and reduces fatality rate, method is highly accurate and does not require significant material costs, is easy to perform.
