FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention is related to metal working and may be used in manufacturing of hollow forged pieces in hydraulic forging presses and radial-forging machines. A cold mandrel is installed in cavity of billet with circular cross section, which is heated up to forging temperature. Mandrel has working surface with two wide facets. Billet sections are pressed with feeds. Squeesing of every section is carried out in two stages. At the first stage the billet is deformed from both sides. At that wide facets of forged piece with rectangular cross section are shaped at external surface of squeesed section. At the second stage the rectangular cross section of forged piece is finally shaped by means of billet section squeesing from four sides. Wide facets of rectangular cross section are deformed to complete contact of internal surface of squeesed section with wide facets of billet working surface.

EFFECT: lower metal intensity, expansion of technological resources of method and simplification of forged pieces manufacturing process.
