FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming and may be used in producing hollow forged pieces on mandrel. Mandrel is fitted in cavity of hollow billet heated to deformation temperature. Billet is forged on mandrel and the latter is withdrawn thereafter. In forging the billet and withdrawing the mandrel, ultrasound vibrations are excited. Said vibrations are directed in parallel with friction forces between billet and mandrel and surface of contact there between. Four-hammer forging press may be used for forging.
EFFECT: reduced friction forces between billet and mandrel.
