TECHNIQUE FOR INTRAOCULAR FOREIGN BODY REMOVAL FROM POSTERIOR EYE THROUGH ANTERIOR TRACT Russian patent published in 2009 - IPC A61F9/07

Abstract RU 2364383 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to ophthalmology and can be used in foreign body removal from posterior eye. It involves a cataract tunnel sclerocorneal incision and two corneal centeses. Then anterior continuous circular capsulorhexis of diametre 4.5-5.5 mm is carried out. It is followed by hydrodissection and hydrodelineation. Substance of crystalline lens matter is removed. In posterior capsule of lens, a perforation is formed with a needle wherethrough it is separated from anterior hyaloid membrane. The formed capsular graft is taken with forceps to perform continuous circular capsulorhexis of diametre 4.0-5.0 mm with equatorial portion of the capsular sac left intact. It is followed with sclerotomies in the meridians 7:30, 10:30, 1:30 with three-port transciliary subtotal vitrectomy with removing a vitreous body along with posterior hyaloid membrane. An intraocular foreign body is taken with collet forceps introduced into the vitreous body through sclerotomy in the meridian 1:30, and delivered to anterior chamber through the hole of posterior capsulorhexis, and then of anterior capsulorhexis. The foreign body is removed from anterior chamber with forceps introduced through tunnel cataract sclerocorneal incision, and intraocular lens is then implanted into capsular sac.

EFFECT: method allows for forceps-aided removal of a foreign body of nonmagnetic nature, herewith avoiding traction impact on retina, maintaining integrity of equatorial region of lens capsule and making reliable intracapsular implantation of OIL, eliminating development of postoperative proliferative vitreoretinopathy.
