FIELD: physics, measurements.

SUBSTANCE: invention is related to metering equipment. Non-homaxonic indenter is introduced into tested material, and imprint depth is determined. Indenter is introduced at the angle α to the surface of tested sample, creating zone of plastic deformation in direction of indentation force action at indenter, and by zone of plastic deformation mechanical properties of tested material are detected. Specified angle α is selected from the range of values α=5°…90°. Indenter is used in the form of plate knife with thickness δ, selecting specified thickness from range of values δ=0.1…50 mm, with width equal to b, selecting specified width from range of values b=0.1…100 mm, with single-sided sharpening of inserted edge in the form of slant cut with angle γ, selecting specified angle from range of values γ=5°…120°.

EFFECT: efficiency and accuracy of investigated metals physical and mechanical properties detection in connection with specified characteristics of deforming load.
