FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises imparting rotation and feed motion along processed workpiece to deforming device. The latter comprises fixed foundation, movable casing, flexible element to generate deforming force arranged between aforesaid casing and foundation, and shaft running in casing bearings to support deforming element. Deforming element represents a helical spring made from pipe that features various-OD coils and fitted on the shaft to form one-strip hyperboloid of revolution by apices of spring coil outer surfaces the latter features ledges and recesses. Spring coil inner surfaces holes, shaft radial bores and dead central bore on the shaft one end serve to feed lubricant-coolant. Aforesaid recesses communicate with the bore of pipe of which the said helical spring is made. Shaft radial holes are aligned with holes made in inner surfaces of spring coils. Note here that shaft axis is located at an angle to the workpiece lengthwise axis. Note also that rotation is imparted to the shaft with deforming element by contact friction with workpiece.
