FIELD: physics, measurement.

SUBSTANCE: invention is related to the field of measurement equipment and may be used to measure liquid level or its flow in open artificial channels of groove type, trays of arbitrary profile. Detector comprises sensitive element on the basis of long line section, electronic unit for excitation of electromagnet oscillations on its two own frequencies and for their measurements, and unit of own frequencies transformation. In order to obtain linear output characteristic in measurements of level or flow of liquid in open channels, sensitive element is made in the form of dielectric tape, inside of which conductor is distributed, being installed above metal strip. Both ends of conductor are located at one end of tape and are connected there with metal strip. Besides sensitive element is installed in internal wall of open channel.

EFFECT: detector of liquid level in open channels does not create obstacles to liquid flow, provides for full range of level measurement and independence of measurement results on properties of controlled liquid.
