SUBSTANCE: invention is related to the field of electric engineering, namely to design of electrodes. Tail has ratio of incoming tail length to diametre of electrode of at least approximately 0.60. Ratio of incoming tail taper in degrees relative to length of incoming tail to diametre of electrode makes at least approximately 15. Connection of electrodes comprises incoming tail of specified design and graphite electrode. Electrode comprises threaded female seat. Threaded incoming tail is screwed in threaded female seat with formation of connection. Method of graphite electrode manufacturing includes mixing of coke and binding pitch, moulding by extrusion of basic mixture, annealing of raw stock, graphitisation of carbonised stock and mechanical processing by cutting for formation of incoming tail of specified design. According to the second version of realisation in graphite electrode, apart from above mentioned, ratio of incoming tail diametre in its base to length of incoming tail varies with ratio of incoming tail length to diametre of electrode. For each 0.01 higher than 0.60 of ratio of incoming tail length to diametre of electrode, ratio of incoming tail diametre in its base to ratio of incoming tail length to diametre of electrode makes at least approximately by 0.016 less than 2.5.
