FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to metallurgy, particularly to composition of steel of upgraded hardness designed for production of solid-rolled wheels of wheel pairs of freight cars and track machines of main-line railways. Steel contains carbon, silicon, manganese, vanadium, niobium, phosphorus, sulphur, nickel, chromium, copper, titanium, molybdenum and iron at the following ratio of components, wt %: carbon 0.60-0.72, manganese 0.50-1.80, silicon 0.22-0.65, vanadium not more 0.15, niobium up to 0.01, phosphorus not more 0.035, sulphur 0.005-0.030, nickel not more 0.30, chromium not more 0.50, copper not more 0.30, titanium up to 0.03, molybdenum not more 0.08, iron the rest.
EFFECT: upgraded mechanical properties, hardness, durability and wear resistance.
