FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be implemented for producing composite material with specific thermal properties by means of power of explosives (EXP), particularly at fabricating heat exchanging apparatus, heat protective screens etc. There is made a three-layer package whereat an aluminium plate is placed between plates of titanium with ratio of layers thickness 1:(0.6-0.8):1 at thickness of aluminium layer 0.8-1.2 mm. Welding is performed by explosion at rate of detonation of EXP 1680-2950 m/s. Welding gap between plates of the package and ratio of specific weight of the charge of EXP to specific weight of the upper titanium plate are chosen from condition of achieving rate of collision of the upper titanium plate with the aluminium plate within range of 560-770 m/s, while that of the aluminium plate with the lower titanium one - 420-630 m/s. Upon hot rolling of the welded three-layer package at temperature 550-580°C it is reduced to specified thickness of the aluminium layer. The stock is annealed till disappearance of liquid phase with complete transformation of the aluminium layer into a hard thermo-protecting inter-metallic interlayer by means of mutual diffusion of titanium and aluminium; further the stock is cooled in air.
EFFECT: high thermal resistance of material across as well as along layers, low time loss for forming unit of thickness of inter-metallic interlayer.
