FIELD: physics; image processing.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to criminalistics and is meant for coding finger, palm and foot prints. For synthesis of a complete template of features from several incomplete templates of features, a reference template of features and a first incomplete template of features are selected from several incomplete templates of features. Reference features and first features are compared and from the comparison result, a function is calculated for transforming first features to reference features. The first features are transformed in accordance with the transformation function and a new reference template is synthesised, which includes reference features and non-compared first features. A second incomplete template of features is then selected and operations are iteratively repeated for all incomplete templates of features. As a result, a complete template of features is obtained. Further, for each feature from the complete template of features, probability of whether that feature is a true feature is determined in form of the ratio of the number of incomplete templates of features, where this feature is present, to the total number of incomplete templates of features.

EFFECT: use of the invention for processing papillary patterns increases accuracy of identifying persons.
