FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: filament-type cathode is designed for vacuum-tube devices, particularly X-ray tubes. The cathode emitter is double-layered, where the support is made from refractory metal or alloy, and the electron-emitting layer is made from a metal with less work function than material of the support, doped with one of the components of the material of the support.
EFFECT: increased stability of emission characteristics and longer service life.
