METHOD OF FORECASTING CEMENTED-CARBIDE TOOL WEAR RESISTANCE Russian patent published in 2009 - IPC B23B1/00

Abstract RU 2358838 C1

FIELD: production processes.

SUBSTANCE: proposed method relates to forecasting wear resistance of tools related to the P applicability group. The proposed method comprises the steps that follow, i.e. carrying out reference tests for wear resistance in cutting the materials at optimum cutting speed or that approximating to the latter, carrying out the tests for starting parametre departure from physical-mechanical properties of the cemented-carbide tool surface structure, making the reference correlation "wear resistance - starting parametre", carrying out routine control of only starting parametre of a current lot of tools under consideration and forecasting wear resistance for the current lot of tools using aforesaid correlation dependence. The starting parametre represents the ratios of total area of chipped-off surface resulted from the formation of crosswise near-surface fractures of contact pattern area produced by denting a diamond indenter into cemented-carbide surface, on measuring Rockwell hardness on scale A at 60 kg-load. The correlation dependence is defined by the enclosed formula.

EFFECT: higher accuracy of forecasting wear resistance.
