FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to special electrometallurgy field, particularly vacuum arc remelting of high-reaction metals and alloys. Method includes measurement on arc during the moment of its placement in central part of butt surface of remoulded electrode during impact on electric arc and melting by axial magnetic field at maximal value of current strength with receiving of controlled signal of voltage, definition by this actual magnitude of interelectrode space and installation of necessary value of this value. Impact on voltaic arc and melt is implemented by sign-changing sinusoidal magnetic field of frequency 10-25 Hz by period 10-50 s, and interelectrode space is kept in the range 40-80 mm.
EFFECT: usage of invention provides implementation of fixed alloying of electrode, keeping of required interelectrode space.
