FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: in the method an electric arc is simultaneously exposed to cyclic action by axial magnetic field with intensity of 0.3×103÷7.0×103 A/m, the period of field exposure of 2÷60 sec and a pause between periods of 0.1÷20 sec, and also a radial rotary magnetic field with intensity of 0.4×103÷4.0×103 A/m, frequency of field switching 0.01÷1 Hz, change of field rotation direction after 0.5÷20 rpm.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to create controlled displacement of an arc along the surface of a liquid metal bath.
