FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to special electrometallurgy and can be used in remelting a pressed consumable electrode of a titanium alloy in a vacuum electric arc furnace. Method includes: initial melting period, main melting period and final melting process. Main melting period is carried out at arc gap value of 30-60 mm and average arc voltage of 35-40 V, wherein in the main melting period, the arc is additionally exposed to the alternating magnetic field of the solenoid wound on the non-magnetic jacket of the crystallizer with intensity of 0.8×103-3.5×103 A/m, and in the final melting period, the arc gap is reduced to value of 15-40 mm and melting is performed at the solenoid alternating magnetic field intensity of 0.4×103-2×103 A/m.
EFFECT: invention enables to stabilize the remelting process, improve the quality of ingots and increase the yield of good metal.
