SUBSTANCE: invention is related to engineering biology. In method they take samples of leaves from upper third of each leaf from relative clean and polluted areas of city green plantations or in any area near highway. Prior to collection of leaf samples, reference plants are selected, and their location is marked on area map relative to corners and highway. Then on each reference plant they select points of sampling in lower part of plant crown, leaf samples are taken. After that in room-dry conditions, plant sample is weighed on scales repeatedly as it dries out naturally before it achieves permanent mass.
EFFECT: method makes it possible to expand functional resources due to measurement of dynamics of sample mass as it naturally dries and to quantitatively assess biological quality of plants by time of drying to permanent mass.
