FIELD: heating.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal heating elements in electric reverberatory furnaces for aluminium and aluminium alloys production. A protected heater mounted on the electric furnace roof comprises heating elements connected to the current leads for the voltage supply from the controlled power source. The heating elements are placed in a protective device and made as a continuous band from precision alloy with high electric resistance sufficient for the conversion of electric energy into the heat one, the band is set radially and circumferentially in the grooves of insulators fixed coaxially on a hollow rod along the longitudinal axis of the protective device. The protective device is presented as a tube made from heat-resistant material. Space bushings made from fireproof electrical insulating material are set along the hollow rod length for the purpose of insulators fixation. The protective device end face is fitted by a layer of fireproof electrical insulating material. The other end face of the protective device is fitted by a cover with openings for the current leads and hollow rod. Bearers for fixing the heater on the electric furnace roof are set along the tube length; a thermocouple is mounted inside the hollow rod.
EFFECT: increased metal heating depth and decreased time for process temperature gain resulting in the increased efficiency of the electric furnaces.
