FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metallurgy. Chute comprises an outer shell with a bottom and two side walls, a refractory channel for transporting the molten metal, an insulating layer between the walls of the outer shell and the refractory channel, a cover above the refractory channel and at least one heating element. Cover contains a metal casing lined with heat-insulating material and an arched refractory element. Heating element is made in the form of at least one flexible electric heating element and consists of separate ceramic elements arranged in staggered order and mechanically interconnected by an electrical conductor connected to an electrical voltage source. Heating element is fixed on the surface of the arched refractory element facing the refractory channel, giving it the shape of a vault of an arched refractory element. Thickness of the heating element is 5–15 mm, and its area is 1.1–1.8 of the area of the exposed surface of the refractory channel in the plane of the base of the arch located under the heating element.
EFFECT: provides an increase in the efficiency of preliminary heating of the chute and molten metal in it, increasing the reliability and maintainability of the chute.
