FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: method includes installation into ground of measuring device of polarisation potential, containing reference electrode, connection of device to underground metallic structure and definition of polarisation potential. It is used reference electrode, implemented from porous stainless steel, or nickel, and before the beginning of measurement it is created electrical loop for hydrogenation of reference electrode and it is implemented its hydrogenation. Device according to the first versions contains metallic bar with pointed tip, in which there are placed dielectric and reference electrode, connected to one of outputs of voltmetre, and switch, one of contacts of which is connected to underground metallic structure, herewith reference electrode is implemented from porous stainless steel, or nickel, or chrome and connected to other contact of switch, and the second output of voltmetre is connected to underground metallic structure. Device for the second and the third versions additionally contain additional electrode and resistance element.

EFFECT: effectiveness and accuracy increase of measurement of polarisation potential, reliable prolonged measurement is in off-line operation.
