SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ensuring industrial safety of hazardous production facilities and is intended to work as part of a cathodic protection system to detect the fact of electrochemical corrosion of metal in underground structures. A method for stabilizing the electrode potential of a non-electrolyte reference electrode consists in passing direct current through the circuit between the protected object and the reference electrode, stabilized to the value necessary to maintain a constant electrode potential of the reference electrode equivalent to the potential of the copper-sulfate electrode. A device for stabilizing the electrode potential of a non-electrolyte reference electrode, contains a reference electrode connected to the protected object, a DC source and an adjustable stabilizer, while a DC source and an adjustable current stabilizer are connected in series in a circuit between the protected object and the reference electrode, while the reference electrode is characterized by the fact that the constant electrode potential of the reference electrode is equivalent to the potential of a copper-sulfate electrode.

EFFECT: ensuring the maintenance of a stable electrode potential of the reference electrode.
