FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to control (monitoring) of electrochemical (cathodic) protection of underground steel structures, including pipelines from corrosion. A long-term reference electrode (LTRE) comprises a dielectric housing, an electrode and a measuring wire with contacts. All contacts and wires are sealed. Electrode comprises a voltage source made in the form of an electronic or electrochemical device with galvanic cells Zn/NaCl/AgCl/Ag, or Pb/PbSO4/SO42−/Ag2SO4/Ag, or Pb/PbSO4/K2SO4, KCl/AgCl/Ag, output contacts of which are connected to electric contacts of electrode and its measuring wire. Electrode type is selected based on the condition Eze = Ese + Emouth, where Eze is the potential of the long-term reference electrode, equal to +100 mV, Ese is the potential of the immediate-sulphate electrode in mV, Emouth is the voltage at the contacts "+" and "−" of the device in mV.
EFFECT: creation of a long-term comparison electrode with a common in ECP potential of +100 mV relative to a reference silver chloride electrode (SCE) of comparison, excluding copper plating (degradation) of a polarization sensor (PS), providing accuracy of maintaining a constant potential of the reference electrode.
