FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical industry and can be used for making sorbents, medical drugs and construction materials. A mixture containing the following (in pts. wt): graphite - 100, oxidising agent - 30-60, additive - 1-30, is deposited in a thin layer onto a metal pallet and placed on a gas burner or muffle furnace at 600-800° C. The oxidising agent used is acetyl hydroperoxide or its mixture with isopropylbenzene peroxide, benzoyl peroxide, acetyl peroxide. The decomposition accelerating additive used is dimethylanaline or ethanedione acid. The additive used for improving wetting the surface of the foamed graphite is silica gel or aerosol. Foamed graphite is obtained without impurities (derivatives of chlorine, sulphur, nitrogen, chrome, manganese) with improved water wetting properties.

EFFECT: prevention of release of aggressive products.
