FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering and can be used to control AC motors. Proposed drive system current is controlled by feedback method, and current instruction is generated to comply with instruction on torque in characteristic line of optimum efficiency (CL0) to select optimum current phase that maximises output torque at motor constant current amplitude. Quite the contrary, if AC motor outputs excess generated power exceeding the amount that can cause AC motor power regeneration, consumption mode is initiated to specially increase power loss in AC motor. In aforesaid mode, current instruction is generated in compliance with that for torque on characteristic curve of loss increase (CL1-CL3) to vary current phase relative to said optimum value.

EFFECT: possibility to consume surplus power in servo control over motor torque.
