FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention concerns medical diagnostics. A sensor for measuring pCO2 comprises a closed chamber bounded at least partially with a carbon dioxide permeable membrane. Inside of the chamber, there are two electrodes. The chamber contains a liquid, essentially electrolyte-free, in contact to the electrodes and membrane. The liquid contains a nonionic adjuvant to prevent water leakage owing to the osmotic gradient through the applied membrane.
EFFECT: higher measurement accuracy ensured by elimination of osmotic differences between the body and liquid in the sensor chamber.
