SUBSTANCE: recording device contains: capturing tool to capture data of moving image, coding tool to encode moving image data captured by capturing device, recording tool to record encoded data of moving object to recording medium, calculation tool to calculate recorded duration, display tool to display setting screen on display device to enable user to set up required recording duration, setting tool to set up required recording duration by user and control tool to change target data transmission rate of moving image encoded data in order that recorded duration would be greater or equal to required record duration if required record duration adjusted by setting tool is greater than recorded duration calculated by calculation tool.

EFFECT: automatic control of target recording rate taking into account set record duration and medium capacity.
