FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention may be used to produce reagents for disinfection and treatment of household-domestic and industrial waste water. In order to produce oxidant based on ferrates of alkaline metals, iron-containing substance is oxidised in melt of alkaline metals compounds in two stages. At the first stage initial iron-containing substance is oxidised in melt of alkaline metals sulfates and/or industrial waste, containing sulfates of alkaline metals, as electric current is passed through melt to produce half-finished product, which contains iron oxides and ferrites of alkaline metals. At the second stage further oxidation of iron oxides and alkaline metals ferrites contained in half-finished product is carried out, in melt of alkaline metals hydroxides, in presence of gaseous oxygen to obtain product, which contains ferrates of (IV) and (VI) alkaline metals. Installation is proposed for preparation of specified oxidant.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to reduce power inputs and duration of oxidant production process, to expand assortment of waste used as raw materials.
